the premier mawile website on the internet

Welcome to my space on the web! My name is Liv, and as you can see, I really like Mawile. I like to go outside, mainly to hike, but also to take nice pictures. Oh, and I like to call myself a programmer, I suppose... I think I'm pretty good at getting the computer to do what I want.

Where to start? Like any good kid, I got my start making stupid websites (like this one!). I'd actually learned a bit of Microsoft BASIC on my own before, but at school, I was introduced to the concept of being able to put your own thing on the internet, which, at the time, mostly meant using iframes to embed a YTMND page into your website. I also learned JavaScript, and (then in its infancy) Node.js.

I contributed a bunch to Node.js. I'm pretty sure I've been a member of as many as 5 different teams, from leadership to translation crony. At some point, I jumped ship over to Rust (before it was cool!!!11), and joined its Community Team. I ended up maintaining and working on Rustlings for good couple of years, as well as running RustBridge. I still have a lot of good memories from hosting these!

As is inevitable, at some point along the way, I got burnt out from doing open source. I had never really made any money off it, and for moral and political reasons, started to become disillusioned. Since then, I haven't really done anything significant out in the open, nor do I really plan to. The extent of it has been purely personal projects and websites.

Some of the ones I think are noteworthy:

Apart from all that junk, I am currently studying Computer Science at my local university. Yes, I have 6 or so years of work experience in computer science. You can just kind of do whatever you want all the time.

I'm still working on this one! Ideally, I plan to have a little trip log with associated pictures here.

You're going to have to use your imagination to conjure a perfectly cute little Mawile into your head for this one, I'm afraid. Oh wait, you meant things like my socials? My bad:

I got you.
